Welcome to Clinton Elementary School

Welcome to Clinton Elementary School

2018-2019

Welcome to the beginning of a wonderful year of learning at Clinton Elementary School.  We are excited about the opportunity to guide your child for this upcoming academic journey.

This is my eighth year as an administrator at Clinton Elementary and my seventeenth year as an educator.  We wanted to inform you of several staff changes and additions at CES.

Abbey Kidwell- Assistant Principal- Abbey comes to us from South Clinton where she taught 4th grade. I know each of you will love and embrace her!
Abby Douglas- 2nd Grade- Abby is an extremely bright young lady who just graduated from UTC.  Her outstanding academic vocabulary/knowledge and enthusiasm will make her a great asset to CES!
Taylor Powers- 3rd Grade- Taylor has had several years of experience at Lonsdale in Knox County.  She has worked with many ESL students, and has gone through several types of behavior modification trainings that will aid in CES classroom managaement!
Makenzie Hutchison- 4th Grade- Makenzie has just moved from Florida to Tennessee, but she is a Clinton alumni!  Makenzie has several years of teaching experience, and we look forward to her expertise helping continue 4th grade success.
Donnie Woods- 4th Grade- Donnie comes to us from Knox County.  We are very excited that he is joining the CES team.  He has taught several grade levels, including 4th and 5th, so we are happy that he knows where the students need to be to be fully prepared for the next school year.
Christin Webb- 5th Grade- Christin is not a new face, but will be in a new grade level.  She previously filled in for Kate Simmons.  Christin has seven years of 5th grade experience, so I know she will do well!
Tammy Winstead- Intervention- Tammy worked at NCES last year with PreK students.  She will be working with our students this year as an intervention teacher.  She will be working with teachers and students in Tier 2 and 3.  We are lucky to have her!
Leah Wallace- School Nurse- Leah will be the school nurse at CES this year.  She has many, many years of school nurse experience.  She has also worked at Children's Hospital, so I know our kiddos will be in good hands with her knowledge and experience she will bring.
Alyssa Bowlin- Instructional Assistant-  She has been a loyal substitute for us, so she has already been like family for a few years.  She is kind and has an incredible love for kids!

Please join me in welcoming these new staff members and making them feel at home!  We look forward to leading CES in a direction of academic rigor and success. One thing that has not changed is that this is a wonderful place to be!  If I can be of assistance, please don’t hesitate to call or email.

Morning Drop Off

Parents may drop students off in the back of the school in the car rider line.  Students will also be able to enter into the front door by the office.  Students need to exit the vehicle through the door closest to the school for safety purposes.  PLEASE do not use any parking areas for drop off points and do not pull into the second lane of traffic in the back to drop your child off.  This places your child in great danger of stepping into the designated oncoming flow of traffic.

Pick-Up

We will send home cards with each student in all grades the first week of school.  Please take note that all children will be bringing home two pickup cards with the child’s name on it.  Parents and guardians are asked to please display these cards in the front windshield of your car.  This will help us load students more efficiently.  After the first few days of school, students will not be allowed to be picked up without these cards and parents will be sent to the office to sign the student out.

Students in grades K-1 will be picked up in the back of the school through the car rider line, and students in grades 2-6 will be dismissed and are to be picked up in the front of the school.  All parents/guardians are asked to use the proper procedures for picking up students.  You will need to fill out the “beginning of the year dismissal form” with your signature/permission indicating that your child is to walk home if that is the desired dismissal plan for your child.

We are looking forward to a wonderful school year.  Please plan to join us on August 15th from 4:00-6:00 PM for Open House.  Additionally, our PTO will have snacks and a “meet and greet” at 6:00 in the library.  You are always welcome to contact me with any questions that you may have.  You can also contact your child’s teacher with any questions that you may have via our website at www.clintonschools.org  I am looking forward to a successful school year!

Sincerely,
