Date: Friday, February 23, 2018

Time: 5:00-7:00pm

Location: CES

Empty Bowls is a community service project to raise both money and awareness in the fight to end hunger.  Empty Bowls uses art to teach students about issues of hunger and to allow students to participate in giving back to our community.  All proceeds from our event will go to Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee.

Students in kindergarten through sixth grade have created a ceramic bowl in art.  Each student has donated their work of art to the school to be sold during the Empty Bowls Event.  This is the students' personal contribution and is their way of helping.  Parents will have the first opportunity to purchase their child's bowl and can do so before the event to guarantee it will not be sold during the event.  All bowls are $5 each.  All bowls will be displayed in the student art show, located in the CES gym, to celebrate our students' talent and effort.  Bowls that have been reserved will be labeled and can only be picked up by that student during the event.

Empty Bowls focuses on the whole community coming together and giving.  Not only do we want to raise money for Second Harvest, we want to provide the Clinton community with a hearty meal at a very low cost.  To do this, students will help by brining in items for our Stone Soup Supper.  These efforts allow use to provide a bowl of vegetable beef soup, crackers, dessert, and a drink for $1 per person.  The supper will be held in the CES cafeteria.

All CES teachers, staff, principal, and Central Office Personnel have made ceramic bowls!  Teacher and Staff bowls can be purchased by silent auction from 5:00-6:30pm.  Starting bids are $5.  Checks can be written to Second Harvest.

This event is for the entire community.  It is a time for fellowship, eating delicious soup, and looking at amazing art, all for a great cause.  Please spread the word and encourage family and friends to attend and support our effort in fighting hunger.
