I am Caryl Wetherington and this is my eighth year teaching at Clinton Elementary.  I teach math and science and incorporate the two through STEM lessons (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). I am originally from Boston, Mass. but spent most of my childhood in Cape Coral, Florida on the beaches of the west coast.  I have two daughters, Jennie 31 and Amy 27, and we lived in our log cabin in North Carolina while I attended Western Carolina University.  I graduated in 1992 from Western Carolina University with my B.S. in Elementary Education and taught three years on the Cherokee Indian Reservation.  In 1995 I moved back to Stuart, Florida, on the east coast, to be near family.  I have taught in St. Lucie County for four years and then spent the next nine years at Port Salerno Elementary teaching 5th grade.  In 2008 I moved to Oliver Springs and worked for Clinton City Schools as the English Language Learner teacher, 5th and 6th grade at risk math, and 6th grade social studies.  In 2009 I was the 3rd grade reading and language arts teacher.  I guess you can call me well rounded.

I am very happy to be teaching 5th grade math and science this year.  We have more new standards in math and will be combining our skills in math with science.   This is going to be a very exciting year.
