Hi! My name is Ms. Murphy, and I am the 6th Grade English/Language Arts teacher. This will be my fifth year as a teacher here at Clinton Elementary. I taught 5th grade ELA/Social Studies for one year, and this will be my fourth year teaching 6th grade. I graduated from Tennessee Tech in May 2013 and completed my student teaching in the 5th grade at CES with Mrs. Denton. I could not be more thrilled to be at the school that I fell in love with during my internship.

I come from an entire family of educators. My mom, dad, grandmother, 2 aunts, and 3 cousins are all teachers.  Furthermore, my uncle is a principal, and my grandfather served as the Chairman of Oak Ridge’s School Board for many years. As you can tell, my family takes education very seriously. People have always joked with me that teaching must run in my blood.  I think that they are right!

In my spare time, I love coaching softball at Karns High School, being a high school small group leader at Faith Promise Church, and going on mission trips. During the summer time and over spring break, I enjoy going on international mission trips. This past summer I went to Honduras for the 6th time. I've also been to Jamaica twice to work in a Deaf Village and to Haiti once.

I have a bucket list of things I want to do before I die. I've already checked off going on an international mission trip, skydiving, ziplining, and being on a tv show. Examples of a few other items that still need to be completed from my bucket list are: going to Africa, diving in a shark cage, and learning to surf.

I am so excited to spend the next year learning and growing with you! I have high expectations for what I want our class to accomplish, but I know that with hard work and effort we can succeed.
